BIO: Stephanie Furniss has made her mark on the pageantry activity for the last 20 years as a color guard director, marching instructor and visual designer. After marching with the Limited Edition Drum & Bugle Corps from Columbus, OH, and then the Santa Clara Vanguard, Stephanie returned to become the visual caption head for the Limited Edition.
The Kiwanis Kavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps, from Kitchner-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada became her home for the next five years as their visual caption head and drill designer. In that time, the corps achieved their highest placement ever.
In 2000, Stephanie was with Spirit of Atlanta as visual caption head and drill designer and from 2001-07, she served as lead visual tech and then visual caption head for the Bluecoats. In that time, the corps moved from 12th place to as high as 4th place at the DCI World Championships.
From 2009 to present Stephanie has been the assistant visual caption head, caption head, and now Visual Coordinator and Marching Caption Head for the Colts.
During the winter, Stephanie is the director, designer and instructor for both the Westerville Winter Guard and Juxtaposition Winter Guard programs. Juxtaposition has become a popular and successful guard, receiving a bronze medal in 2009 in the Independent Open Class, and 10th place in World Class at the 2010 WGI Championships.
The Westerville guard has been successful in Independent and Scholastic classes at WGI, placing 2nd place in Independent A competition in 2004. Stephanie has been also been active as a consultant, designer, writer and instructor to several winter guard programs.
In the marching band world, Stephanie has been visual caption head, color guard designer, and drill designer for the Westerville South High School, Westerville North High School, and Westerville Central High School marching bands from Westerville, Ohio, and she was the color guard designer, caption head, and drill designer for the Thomas Worthington High School marching from Columbus, Ohio.
Stephanie is currently president of Juxtaposition, Inc., and a member of the WGI Board of Directors. In her professional career, she is a Respiratory Therapist at Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where she resides.
