Program Notes
The Colt Cadets enter 2008 with great momentum following their "Sold Out!" program last season. The classic rock selections from a year ago give way to a more progressive rock sound in 2008. NEW AMERICAN SIGNATURES opens with "America" by the lengendary prog rock band, Yes. "American Tune" fills the middle portion of the program. The song, written by Paul Simon, has been covered by some of the great artists of today. The Colt Cadets blend influences of Dave Matthews' live performance along with Eva Cassidy's studio version to create a melody that is sure leave a memorable impression. "Song For America" by the group, Kansas, is an ambitious work that has been described as their signature song. Written during the group's early progressive days, "Song For America" allows the corps to feature various sections, and develop an interesting interplay between brass and percussion. NEW AMERICAN SIGNATURES takes the Colt Cadets into a new dimension which also includes a updated look to go along with the new sound.
